Rachel Berger, MSPT opened The Coolidge
Corner Wellness Studio to promote health, fitness, and recovery
from injuries. She wanted to provide one location where people
could have many needs met at different stages of wellness and
healing. The studio also offers a variety of perspectives and
approaches from skilled practitioners with different backgrounds.
Whether someone is at the beginning of a healing process or wants
to advance to a higher stage of wellbeing or fitness, there is something for
everyone.
Rachel has been practicing Physical
Therapy since 1997. She provides physical therapy and both rehabilitative
and fitness based Pilates. Rachel’s
physical therapy approach focuses on structural hands on techniques
that help realign and stabilize the body to return people back
to optimum health. She received her Master's Degree in Physical
Therapy from Simmons College and has had training from the Upledger
Institute in craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, lymphatic
drainage, and visceral mobilization.
Rachel has been teaching Pilates since 2001
to people of all fitness levels from those rehabilitating
from injuries to high level athletes. She trained in New York
City with Power Pilates in the classical Pilates method. She
believes that Pilates is an effective tool using dynamic movement
and core strengthening to improve posture and alignment and
build overall strength.
Her philosophy is based on working with the
whole body to restore alignment and normal joint mechanics
as well as to release lines of tension held deep in the connective
tissues. She looks at habitual patterns, the client's history
of injuries, and stress holding patterns; and believes in treating
the whole body instead of an isolated symptom.
